Julie\u2019s experience is a unique blend of the following practices: mindful eating; Hatha, restorative and stress reducing\/gentle yoga; guided meditation; higher learning in nutrition and exercise science; goal setting; integrating life practices; and journaling. Julie endeavors to use a whole body-mind-spirit-culture to create a unique approach to health and wellness.<\/p>\n
As a mom of two children with food allergies she has personal and professional experience in managing food allergy, food intolerance, and many other dietary limitations. Like many others her life has been touched by trauma, grief, loss, anxiety, addiction, overweight, and depression. She understands how these experiences can impact a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n
As an avid traveler she and her family have explored food culture and family traditions throughout the U.S. and Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean islands, Canada, Europe, Iceland and North Africa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
My story;<\/strong><\/p>\n I was an over-weight pre-teen. The boys called me \u2018roly poly\u2019. That hurt! I knew I needed help with diet and exercise but didn\u2019t know how or who to ask. So I listened to friends; learned through advertising and magazine articles. I tried every new and trendy diet , even obsessive calorie counting. Some worked for a while. but eventually each one failed. I was the queen of yo-yo dieting and fluctuating weight gain and loss.<\/p>\n It began to change when I was a young professional. I joined a gym and enrolled in an aero- bic dance class. Then I began to explore other forms of exercise. I chose my own activities and discovered I was having fun. Exercise helped me reduce stress and anxiety, metabolize my food better, curb my hunger, and more… I even made new friends. But the yo-yo dieting continued. The dietary roller coaster effected my self-esteem and moods.<\/p>\n A few years later I met a fitness trainer who taught me how to blend healthy eating and exer- cise in an easy to understand way. I added yoga, meditation and counseling . It took time but looking back it was well worth it. Now the old habits are long gone. I am happy, healthy, and have reclaimed my self-worth.<\/p>\n Julie<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n At Awarefull we recognize that this is your personal journey of discovery, self-awareness and infinite possibility.
